From the Cutting Room Floor

Sometimes the best bits don't make it into a story. I went ga-ga for the jewels at Merriwether, and the owner turned out to be just as charming as the arm candy. (I'm dying over these bangles, with enough rose-cut diamonds to satisfy the greediest Maharani.) Here's what I wrote, which sadly didn't make the cut:

Just Because It’s Pretty: Don’t miss browsing the vitrines at Meriwether for the finest estate jewelry, cherry picked by owner Meriwether McGettigan. She’s a descendant of Meriwether Lewis—and she keeps Nancy Pelosi in pearls. Dainty Victorian stacking rings with emeralds and rubies and diamonds start at $1,000, and prices go up—way up—from there. 3524 Sacramento St., 415-359-1111, meriwether.net.
